Mein Schiff 3 collided with a cargo ship while departing Bremerhaven for Spain in stormy conditions on Sunday evening, Cruise Industry News reported. Social-media footage cited by the publication appeared to show significant damage and multiple destroyed lifeboats.
Ventura sailing shortened
P&O Cruises’ Ventura reached Southampton at 6:07 a.m. on Sunday, October 25, one day behind schedule following rough weather associated with Storms Austen and Boelo, according to Cruise Hive. Its next cruise was shortened from seven nights to six, with embarkation moved to October 25. The Cherbourg call was cancelled, while Porto, Lisbon and Vigo remained scheduled. Guests were offered a future-cruise credit prorated to one day’s value.
MSC Virtuosa drops French calls
Cruise Hive reported that MSC Virtuosa’s Southampton departure was postponed from October 24 to 7 p.m. on October 25. La Rochelle was removed over forecast sea conditions and Le Havre over planned strike activity. Vigo was added for October 29. MSC-booked excursions for the two cancelled French calls were to be refunded automatically to onboard accounts.
