What changes for guests
From November 20, Airbnb hosts should not ask guests to wash and put away dishes, strip beds, start laundry or take rubbish off-site. Permitted requests include placing dishes in the sink, gathering used towels, sorting waste into indoor bins and switching off air conditioning when leaving, The Points Guy reported, citing an Airbnb statement.
Viagem e Turismo reported that hosts will also be barred from adding rules by message or signs at the property once a reservation has been made. Hosts may still require steps justified by local conditions, including protected rubbish disposal in areas with wildlife or water conservation where supplies are restricted.
How Airbnb may enforce the policy
Airbnb said it would notify hosts when listings conflict with the guidelines. Uncorrected listings could receive a warning about household-work demands and may ultimately lose visibility in platform search results, according to Viagem e Turismo.
