How the hotel credit works

One Mile at a Time and Head for Points report that GHA Discovery is offering a 15% discount on Discovery Dollars from October 22 through November 19, 2026. Members can purchase up to D$5,000, across one or more transactions, paying USD 0.85 for each D$1 of hotel credit.

Discovery Dollars have a fixed redemption value of D$1 to USD 1 and can be applied to eligible spending at participating hotels. The purchased credit expires 24 months after issue; One Mile at a Time says that validity cannot be extended through account activity.

Charges and stays that may not qualify

Taxes, tips and fees are generally excluded from redemption, so travellers cannot necessarily settle an entire bill with Discovery Dollars. Head for Points also reports that some brands do not accept them toward prepaid room charges, although eligible food and drink added to the final bill may qualify.

Members do not earn Discovery Dollars on the portion of a stay paid with them. Both publications say cash payments would ordinarily earn 4% to 7% back, depending on membership status, reducing the effective advantage of buying credit at the promotional price.
