Revenue rose as losses continued

American Airlines lost $269 million in the third quarter of 2026, according to One Mile at a Time. View from the Wing reported that revenue rose 19% while losses worsened slightly.

View from the Wing reported continued improvement in premium performance. It also assessed that the non-premium business had not performed as strongly relative to costs.

Full-year loss expected

American expects a significant full-year loss, One Mile at a Time reported. The publication said Delta, Southwest and United continued to forecast healthy profits.

Management focuses on profitability

Chief executive Robert Isom said American’s investments were producing results, with premium performance leading the way. That is management’s assessment; the reported third-quarter result remained a loss.

American’s stated focus is restoring profitability, according to One Mile at a Time.
