Paraná municipalities announce free election transport
In Brazil’s Paraná state, 206 municipalities have informed the Regional Electoral Court of Paraná that they will provide free public transport during the second round of the 2026 elections, G1 Brazil reported. Voters in the state are due to choose between presidential candidates on Sunday; the Paraná governor was decided in the first round.
The measure follows guidance from the Superior Electoral Court aimed at ensuring access to voting. Municipal governments are responsible for implementation and may determine the hours of free service and whether to operate more routes than on a usual Sunday.
The regional electoral court said voters can report service interruptions to the Electoral Public Prosecutor’s Office through the Pardal application. Candidates, parties and coalitions are prohibited from providing transport for electoral purposes on election day.
