Fatal collision under investigation
Three US Navy sailors died in a single-vehicle crash in the early hours of October 24, according to MassLive and Boston 25 News. MassLive described the crash as fiery, while Boston 25 News said the Pensacola Police Department was investigating.
Sailor from Massachusetts identified
Boston 25 News identified one victim as Francois Longdayeyambete, 18, of Webster, Massachusetts. Longdayeyambete, an Aviation Ordnanceman Airman Recruit, joined the Navy in July following his graduation from Bartlett High School.
Webster Public Schools told Boston 25 News that Longdayeyambete had recently completed basic training. Its statement remembered him as a positive and caring student who encouraged his classmates and took pride in his Navy service.
