South Sudan soldiers accused of two fatal shootings

Nagero County Executive Director Bernardo Gabriel Amin accused members of the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces of killing two young men in separate incidents on Thursday and Friday, Eye Radio South Sudan reported. Amin said the suspected gunmen had been detained and transferred to military barracks.

The first victim, a student identified as David, was reportedly killed near Freedom Square as he returned from buying vegetables. Another man, Monday Valerio, was allegedly shot at his family’s compound the following day.

Eye Radio said key details about the shootings, including the alleged motives, remained unresolved. Amin associated the killings with tensions around recent fighting in Nagero County, but the outlet said that connection had not been independently confirmed. The SSPDF and other government bodies had not responded to the accusations in the accounts available to Eye Radio.
