Russian strikes hit Kyiv and Kharkiv
Russian forces attacked Kyiv with drones and ballistic missiles overnight into October 22, Meduza reported. Kyiv authorities said 15 people were wounded overnight, eight of whom required hospital treatment. NOS reported that six others had been injured during attacks the previous afternoon; Mayor Vitali Klitschko said two children were among the wounded.
Klitschko said the strikes again hit Kyiv’s South Bridge, an important route across the Dnipro, as well as an ambulance station and six ambulances. In Kharkiv, local authorities reported that a woman was killed and four people were wounded in separate Russian attacks.
Moscow reports large Ukrainian drone attack
Moscow’s mayor said Ukraine launched more than 600 drones at the Russian capital and claimed most were intercepted. He reported that two people were wounded.
Strikes follow diplomatic contacts
The attacks came after Witkoff held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European allies in Oslo, then travelled to Moscow to discuss the outcome with Russian President Vladimir Putin. DW reported that Putin and Zelenskyy had expressed willingness to resume US-mediated talks.
