Women hold 18% of Dutch executive posts
Women account for 18% of executive board members across the 81 Dutch listed companies covered by the latest Female Board Index, NOS reports. Mijntje Lückerath-Rovers, the corporate governance professor who compiles the ranking, said the pace of new appointments showed no acceleration. Continuation of the current trend would take until 2044 for women to hold one-third of executive posts, according to the index.
Representation is higher on supervisory boards, where women hold 44% of seats. A statutory quota applying since 1 January 2022 requires at least one-third of supervisory board members at listed companies to be women and at least one-third to be men. The index found that 71 of the 81 companies met that threshold. No equivalent statutory quota applies to executive boards.
Twenty-one companies now have women in at least one-third of positions on both their executive and supervisory boards, up from 17 in the previous index. PostNL, Triodos, Fastned and Hydratec have equal numbers of women and men on both boards, while women form a majority on both boards at ABN Amro.
Judith Tielen, the state secretary responsible for emancipation, said growth in the number of women in senior positions remained too slow, particularly on executive boards. She plans to evaluate the supervisory-board quota and discuss with companies, organisations and women what could increase representation in senior management.
