Moldova’s power-line deadline

Moldova risks losing €15 million allocated through the European Union’s growth plan if the Vulcănești–Chișinău high-voltage power line is not put into operation by the stated year-end deadline, NewsMaker Moldova reported.

Deputy government secretary-general Lilia Dabija said on October 21 that supplying power to the new network was among Chișinău’s key commitments for securing the European financing. Her comments were made during the Moldova 1 programme “Eu și Uniunea Europeană,” according to NewsMaker Moldova.

Armenia seeks relief from Russian restrictions

Armenia has asked the Eurasian Economic Union to remove Russian trade restrictions affecting Armenian goods, The Moscow Times reported. The report described the Russian measures as broad bans covering a range of products.

The Moscow Times also reported that the restrictions were imposed as Yerevan began the process of joining the European Union. The available report does not specify which products are affected or the terms of Armenia’s appeal to the Eurasian Economic Union.
