Demolition work reported
CNN, in a report published by KRDO, said Israel had started tearing down buildings in the occupied West Bank and ordering people out of a neighbourhood. The broadcaster placed those actions on Friday, following a checkpoint shooting in which two soldiers died and another three sustained light injuries. It identified the attackers as two Palestinian gunmen.
The BBC separately reported demolition of Palestinian buildings in Hebron. Its account placed the attack on the soldiers at a checkpoint outside that city on Friday morning.
The Associated Press, carried by WTOP, attributed the account of two soldiers and two suspected gunmen dying in the attack to the Israeli military.
The Guardian reported an announced siege covering Hebron and nearby Halhul. Its account said Netanyahu had pledged extensive destruction of homes and the removal of residents from neighbourhoods associated with the gunmen.
Correction
An earlier version focused on threatened measures and said implementation had not been reported. It did not include reports of demolition work already taking place. This version adds that reporting.
