Maddison sets the first-half score

James Maddison put Tottenham ahead in the 14th minute at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 19 October, with Mohammed Kudus providing the assist. His goal separated the teams at half-time.

Spurs carried that advantage into the break, but Coventry needed only four minutes of the second half to draw level. Brandon Thomas-Asante set up Jack Rudoni, whose equaliser brought the visitors back into the contest.

A quick reply, then a late third

The score remained level for nine minutes. Omar Marmoush struck in the 58th minute, assisted by Andy Robertson, to restore Tottenham’s lead.

Coventry stayed one goal behind through the remainder of normal time. Ben Davies finally extended the margin in the sixth minute of stoppage time, with Dominic Solanke supplying the assist. That finish completed the 3–1 result in front of 60,913 spectators.

Tottenham make more of their attempts

Tottenham finished with 65.4 per cent possession and 16 shots, five of them on target. Coventry recorded 12 attempts but only one on target, the effort that brought Rudoni’s goal.

The sides won four corners each. Their difference in shots on target was more pronounced: Spurs put four more attempts on goal than Coventry, and three of their five on target became goals.

The final score gave Tottenham a two-goal margin, although they held only a one-goal lead between Marmoush’s reply and Davies’s stoppage-time finish.
