Tsunami risk flagged
A strong earthquake off Vanuatu prompted a tsunami alert, News of Bahrain reported. TASS separately said the United States’ National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued a tsunami warning.
Initial magnitude estimates differ
The first accounts differed on the strength of the main shock. News of Bahrain reported a magnitude of 6.9, while TASS put it at 7.2. News of Bahrain also reported that another strong tremor followed within minutes.
