Hamroyev reinstated as Asian Para Games champion
Uzbekistan’s Faxriddin Hamroyev had his gold medal restored following an appeal at the Asian Para Games in Japan, according to Gazeta Uzbekistan. Hamroyev had crossed the finish line first in the 1,500 metres, but his result was initially annulled following a complaint from a rival.
The Uzbekistan delegation appealed the ruling. Hamroyev’s disqualification was subsequently lifted and the gold medal returned to him, Gazeta Uzbekistan reported.
